ABOUT THE POETS

Ian Cook is the author of Vishuddha, a collection of poetry that deals with communication, what it is, and how the individual does it: by speaking, singing, screaming, writing, drawing, expressing, playing, by communing with All. He has had work featured in online and print journals such as Snarl Journal, KU’s Kiosk Magazine, Avatar Review, and others. Ian lives, writes, draws, sings, and plays in Lawrence, Kansas, with his partner Maddie, pups Mildred, and Cordelia, and rats Remy, and Grandpa.

Thaddeus Dugan resides in Topeka, Kansas and studies English/Writing at Washburn University. He has two cats, one named Araya and the other Eliot who supervise all his writing endeavors. Beth Gulley is a Kansas City based poet who has published two chapbooks and three full-length collections of poetry: Since Corona Ruined Our Trip to the Library (Finishing Line Press), Little Fish: Tiny Meditations on Freedom (Flying Ketchup Press), Dragon Eggs (Spartan Press), The Sticky Note Alphabet (Alien Buddha Press), and Love of Ornamental Fish (Alien Buddha). She teaches English at Johnson County Community College. Beth serves on the Riverfront Reading Committee and the Writers Place board. She likes to volunteer, trail run, and drink coffee. Sandy Hazlett lives on a 160 acre farm in rural Lawrence, Kansas. She reads and writes and manages acres of wildlife area including a 4 acre pond, and takes care of pasture for a cattleman with Angus Beef Cattle. She grows organic vegetables, and has a large orchard with apples, cherries, peaches, pears, and plums, and she raises layer chickens. She lives with her companion, Jake Vail, and her two dogs, a black lab named Henny, and a red heeler named Whistler. Her sons, Adam and Joshua live close by.

D.A. Irsik is a Kansas girl and shares her life with her husband Mike, and children John and Emily. Deb is a member of The Kansas Authors Club, and Emporia Writing Group. Her Heroes by Design Y.A. fiction series was completed in 2020 and she is dedicating her time to creating a book of poetry and writing essays, prose and fiction. Deb also has published works in 105 Meadowlark Reader and The Write Bridge. She was an Amity literary prize finalist in 2023. The contest is sponsored by Anamcara Press.
