Holiday Big Tent: Cindy Hoedel, Dee McElhattan, and Randy Michael Signor

National award-winning journalist Cindy Hoedel worked at the Kansas City Star for 20 years. She was best known for magazine stories, profiles and commentary about her transition from Kansas City to a tiny town on the Kansas prairie, where she still lives, writes, grows food and keeps chickens.

dee mcelhattan is a poet from the west side of chicago. she is a graduate student, a dog mama, an aquarius, and very frazzled, full stop. she teaches a composition class at the university of kansas that centers around narratives of resistance and reclamation. her work has been published by internet poetry, voicemail poems, aegir, and bluestockings among others. dee’s poetry revolves around femininity and power--sometimes drug-induced, sometimes angry, but always sincere and overly-sentimental. you can find her on facebook at dee mac, where she adds friends with reckless abandon.
