Big Tent Reading: Stephanie Fitzgerald, Kate Russell, and Tim Volpert
Stephanie Fitzgerald’s poems have appeared in Calyx, Native Literatures: Generations, and other journals. She is the former poetry editor of the American Indian Culture and Research Journal and the author of Native Women and Land: Narratives of Dispossession and Resurgence (U New Mexico P, 2015). She is an associate professor of English at the University of Kansas.
Kate Russell is a writer originally from eastern Maine who now lives in Lawrence. Her fiction and creative nonfiction have appeared in Necessary Fiction, Quarterly West, Mid-American Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Crab Orchard Review, and other journals. Kate is a graduate of the creative writing MFA program at Indiana University and is currently a PhD student in creative writing at the University of Kansas.
In addition to being a poet, Tim Volpert is also a musician, and co-manages Blue Planet Cafe in Topeka. His poems have been published by the wonderful folks at seveneightfive magazine, Coal City Review, Inscape, Blue Island Review and more.
