Big Tent reading with John Gary Brown and Jim McCrary

John Gary Brown has been a professional artist, photographer, and author for almost fifty years. A native Kansan, he received his MFA from The University of Washington in Seattle. His work has been featured in Smithsonian, Architectural Digest and in numerous books. His book Soul in the Stone was published by the Kansas University Press in 1993. He is currently working on a memoir that examines the counter culture in American’s Heartland.

 

 



Jim McCrary has been involved with poetics in Lawrence, Ks since the mid 1960's when he formed the Mass St Co-op gallery with John Fowler and George Kimball. Along with other poets and musicians they had readings, showed films (Kenneth Angers Scorpio Rising), art show and live music. He has published over 20 books, chapbooks and pamphlets. His latest work was in the publications Otiliths (Austrialia), ERatio (USA), and Galatia (USA). Forthcoming work in an anthology Poems For The End of the World and a Haynaku Anthology. Recent text memoir published by Shirt Pocket Press entitled Year Book and Red Hot Son Ettes poems published by Really Old Gringo Press. (Recent photo of poet in café near Ephesus Turkey )
