Author Talk: Chigozie Obioma’s "An Orchestra of Minorities"

Nigerian writer Chigozie Obioma is the author of "The Fishermen", which was a finalist for the Man Booker prize in 2015 and winner of four other awards, including an NAACP Image award and the FT/Oppenheimer prize for fiction. In his latest novel, Obioma weaves a tale of Chinonso, a young farmer, who after a chance encounter with Ndali, the daughter of a prominent family, gives up everything to be with her. In chasing his dream, Chinonso gets further and further away from Ndali and the place he called home.
Spanning continents and cosmic spaces, and told by a narrator who has lived for hundreds of years, the novel is a contemporary twist of Homer’s Odyssey. Written in the mythic style of the Igbo literary tradition, Obioma weaves a heart-wrenching epic about destiny and determination.
The Raven Book Store will have copies of Obioma’s work for sale and a book signing will follow his talk.
