Dear Ruby, Hear Our Hearts
Dear Ruby, I’m very small and trying to be proud of myself like you were. Dear Ruby, I stand up to bullying because I don’t like how they treated you. Dear Ruby, they say girls can’t play sports, but I’m crossing the barrier like you did. Over and over these kids write to Ruby Bridges and say she inspired them- and over and over she replies. This whole picture book is full of sweet letters kids wrote to her saying “I’m like you!” And her reply of “Yes, you are!” Every barrier crossed leaves a kid inspired to do the same, and no one knows it like Ruby. Ms. Bridges, thank you for taking the time to tell these kids they are brave.
