Belittled Women
Amanda Sellet’s book about a family of Little Women reenactors is absolutely delightful, even for those who haven’t read Alcott’s version from cover to cover (*raises hand*). Set in small-town Kansas and narrated by Jo (Porter, who plays her namesake onstage), Belittled Women perfectly captures the disorienting maze that is coming of age. Expect hilarity on nearly every page, with room still for tender moments—also featuring a love triangle and crushing expectations! Whether you love Little Women or you love a great book, this one’s for you. Recommended by Mary

Sharp and subversive, this delightfully messy YA rom-com offers a sly wink to the classic Little Women, as teenage Jo Porter rebels against living in the shadow of her literary namesake.
